from:Bowhunting is a method of hunting that has been practiced for thousands of years by people all over the world. However, technology throughout the years has made Bowhunting less primitive. Both equipment and strategies have evolved. These strategies and improved equipment allows for more accurate shots and techniques of Bowhunting.
Make sure you want to use your dominant eye. In order to determine which eye is the dominant one, you want to point at something using your finger with both eyes open. Once you have pointed at something close your left eye and see if your finger is still pointing at the target or if your finger has shifted off of the sight. After doing this, open your left eye and close the right eye. The eye that still shows the finger pointing at the target with the other eye closed is the dominant eye. Determining the dominant eye will allow you to have more accurate shots.
Choosing the right bow to use is essentially a very important part of Bowhunting. When choosing a bow, you want to choose one that fits your body. The bow needs to be the right size for your body. A bow that is too long or short can throw off the accuracy of your shot. The length of your bow also may have some weight issues. These weight issues can make the bow uncomfortable in your hands, making it awkward, resulting in imbalance.
When choosing the right bow, keep in mind the draw weight. The draw weight can be a very important aspect to Bowhunting. If your draw weight is too high you will get tried quicker when you are practicing at the range. Additionally, you may have to move your bow when you are drawing back to take your shoot at a deer. This can cause unnecessary movement that might alert the deer that you are there. For young children who wish to take up Bowhunting the proper draw weight should be around 15 to 35 pounds. While women should have 25 to 35 pounds of draw weight. The correct draw weight for male Bowhunters should be somewhere around 50 to 55 pounds.
As for choosing arrows, it is best to start with inexpensive arrows until you become comfortable with your bow. Once you have gotten to the point where you are confident and comfortable with your Bowhunting ability, then you can move to more expensive arrow types. The reason for using the less expensive arrows at first is that you will probably go through a lot of them in just getting the feel of your bow.
There are other types of Bowhunting equipment that can be used to increase your experience. Rests, stabilizers, peeps and sights are just such types of equipment. One of the most popular rests used today is the drop away rest which allows for maximum fletch clearance resulting in better accuracy. Stabilizers are used to dampen the amount of noise and vibration from the bow. In choosing a peep, make sure that you choose one that offers reliable and good pin visibility.
These are just a few basic tips and information on how to choose some basis Bowhunting equipment. Following these tips can allow you to have a great experience.
